If your child loves to dance and perform, we’d love to have them join the Melcher-Dallas Dance Team for a fun clinic and a chance to perform in our Spring Show that night!
Be sure to check backpacks and return forms by March 13th. We can’t wait to see lots of kids join us Under the Big Top! 🎭 clinic is k-6
**🚀 Opportunity for Aspiring Innovators: Help Fight Cancer!**
Are you a student in **grades 10-12** who wants to make a real-world impact? We are looking for up to **10 students** to represent our school at **DesignDash**, a specialty STEM-focused program hosted by the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center in Iowa City!
**What:** A free, one-day, fast-paced innovation experience. You will work alongside university mentors and industry experts to brainstorm creative solutions for cancer-related concerns like water quality, vaping, sun exposure, and more.
**When:** April 17, 2026 (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
**Where:** University of Iowa Campus
**Why:** Flex your problem-solving skills, gain experience in ground-breaking research, and help find new ways to fight cancer. No prior experience is needed—just a desire to think outside the box!

There was something extra special happening in the preschool room today! 📚✨
Mrs. Lee brought her 1st grade reading group down the hall to share their growing reading skills with the preschoolers. The little ones loved listening to the big kids read, and the 1st graders were so proud to show off how much their fluency has grown this year.
Mrs. Rasmus especially loved having some of her former students back in her classroom and seeing just how much they’ve grown as readers since their preschool days. Moments like this are such a great reminder of how quickly these kids grow!
Mrs. Lee is always finding ways to encourage her readers—building confidence, celebrating their progress, and creating meaningful relationships with our youngest learners along the way.
Safe to say… fun was had by all! 💙📚

We wrapped up our Read Across America Week celebrations in preschool with our final guest reader! 📚🎉
Mrs. Weaver joined the class to read Wacky Wednesday by Dr. Seuss, and it was the perfect silly story to end a week full of reading fun. The students loved searching for all the wacky things on each page and sharing lots of giggles along the way! 🤪📖

Our students and staff had so much fun celebrating Dr. Seuss Week with some creative dress-up days! From tall hats and silly socks to animal prints and dreaming about what we want to be when we grow up, the halls were filled with color, imagination, and lots of smiles.
Each day brought something new:
🎩 “The Cat in the Hat” – hats of all shapes and sizes
🐆 “Put Me in the Zoo” – animal prints everywhere
🧦 “Fox in Socks” – the silliest and most colorful socks
🚀 “Oh, the Places You’ll Go” – students dressing up as what they hope to be someday
It was so fun seeing the creativity from both students and staff as we celebrated reading and the joy that books bring. Thanks to everyone who joined in and made the week extra special! 📖✨

Our preschoolers are having a blast celebrating Read Across America Week in honor of Dr. Seuss! Today’s theme was “Fox in Socks” and the kids showed up in their silliest, craziest, most colorful socks. From mismatched pairs to bright and funky patterns, it was a sock-tastic day for all! 🦊✨
A big thank you to Mrs. Carter for being the guest reader today! The students loved having her join them for story time and help make reading even more special.

Miss Kassi joined the fun and read Fox in Socks — and let’s just say, those silly tongue twisters had everyone giggling! 🦊🧦 The kids loved trying to keep up with all the rhymes and tricky phrases (and Miss Kassi nailed it!).
We are so thankful for staff members who take time out of their day to pour into our littlest learners. There’s something so special about building a love of reading through laughter, rhythm, and a whole lot of Seuss-style silliness. ❤️
