Demolition

The demolition process began on the high school construction project a couple of weeks ago, but the work became evident today as the walls started coming down. The first step was to erect a wall between the kitchen so that it is weather proof when the walls come down. The demolition process is set to take three weeks and should be wrapping up when school starts.

On Tuesday, July 26th, the board voted in a special board meeting to approve bids for the construction of the new facility. As you may already know, the original bids came in well over budget. Ryan Cameron and his team from CMBA architects did excellent work to reduce the scope of the project to get it under budget. The Melcher-Dallas administrative team also worked to secure additional funding. The project went out to bid for the second time in early July, and even though the bids still came in a little high, we were able to get it within budget. Now that the bids have been accepted, contractors can schedule the work and order materials. The project is scheduled to be completed June 1, 2024.
