September has been an exciting month at Melcher-Dallas Elementary, and we have so much to celebrate! With school officially back in session, our hallways have been filled with learning, laughter, new routines, and plenty of Saint Pride.
Our students have worked hard to complete their fall testing, giving teachers valuable information about where each student is beginning the school year. From there, students have been setting goals for their learning and growth, thinking about what they want to accomplish and how they can continue working toward those goals throughout the year. We are so proud of the effort our students are already putting into their learning!
September also brought lots of fun and school spirit through our Homecoming festivities. Our students had the opportunity to celebrate together, participate in special activities, and show just how much Saint Pride we have at M-D!
Of course, September also reminded us that school days don't always go exactly as planned! 🌧️ With plenty of rainy days, our students and staff have had to be flexible with inside recess. Our kids have done a great job making the best of it, finding ways to play, visit with friends, and have fun even when the weather doesn't cooperate. Their flexibility and positive attitudes are just another thing to celebrate!
We ended the month today with a very special experience in Mrs. Lee’s kindergarten reading group. Today, our kindergarten readers welcomed special guests from the High School Ag program, who came to teach them all about corn! Students learned about an important Iowa crop and then got to use their creativity to color their very own corn masterpieces.
One of my favorite parts of the morning was watching former Melcher-Dallas students come back to present to our youngest learners. There is something so special about seeing our students grow into leaders and then return to share their time, talents, and knowledge with the next generation of Saints.
September may be coming to a close, but the learning, growth, and Saint Pride are just getting started!
