Two groups displayed creativity and quick thinking while performing in Group Improv at the Large Group Speech contest. Students were given three scenarios to choose from and had only two minutes to create a rough outline for their story before performing.
Group 1: Austin Remster, Chloe Carter, Kaden Schrader, and Ashlyn Stegman
Group 2: Brenya Johnson, Jorja Gravett, Alice Lamb, and Sophia DeHeer
Both groups received II ratings.
Several students also competed in individual categories and earned I ratings at districts:
Brenya Johnson – Original poetry
Chloe Carter – Original prose
Austin Remster – Original poetry
Sydney Busick – Collection of poetry by Maya Angelou
These students will perform this Saturday at the State competition at Vinton-Shellsburg High School!
Their performances are especially meaningful because the students who wrote their own pieces drew from personal experiences. Poetry and prose gave them a powerful way to express their thoughts, feelings, and stories.
Please join us in wishing them the best of luck at State!
