The Melcher-Dallas and Twin Cedars school districts, in partnership with Marion County, announce that a School Resource Official, Officer Carter Riechmann, has been hired. School Resource Officer Riechmann is a trained law enforcement professional who will work in the schools to support students, staff, and families.

Shared superintendent Scott Bridges said, “Officer Riechmann, who is an employee of Marion County, started working with the districts in early January. He will play a key role in promoting student safety, strengthening student and community connections, and supporting proactive law enforcement.”

The role was approved by the Marion County Board of Supervisors at the end of September, and the districts approved the sharing agreement as well. Under the agreement, the cost of the School Resource Officer (SRO) will be split among three parties: Twin Cedars School District and Melcher-Dallas School District will each cover 26%, while Marion County will pay the remaining 48%. Both districts will receive state funding in the amount of $16,000 and have budgeted for the remaining cost for the 2025-26 school year.

Specifically, the School Resource Officer plays a key role in maintaining a safe, orderly, and welcoming school environment. Officer Reichmann will provide engaging classroom presentations on topics such as internet safety and substance abuse prevention, while also building strong, positive relationships with students, teachers, and the administrative team. In addition, he will support emergency preparedness efforts, helping ensure the school community is ready to respond confidently and effectively in any situation.

Riechmann, a Chariton native, has seven years of experience in law enforcement and most recently served as the school resource officer for the PCM Community School District.

He said, “I’m honored to serve as the School Resource Officer for Twin Cedars and Melcher-Dallas. I’m excited to build strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and families, and I look forward to working closely with both school communities to help create a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for all.”
