Junior is King of the Concessions Stand By Student Ashlyn Stegman
Every sporting event, look into the concessions, and you will see Kaden Schrader working to help out with the community.
Volunteering interests Kaden because it makes him feel good about himself. Mrs. Cox, a member of the athletic boosters, and in charge of indoor concessions, said Kaden contributes by being "very dependable. Always there when we need him. If we were not there, he gets things set up for us and is just very helpful."
Kaden stated the main reason he wants to keep volunteering is always "knowing somebody is guaranteed to help in there." His motivation comes from seeing the enjoyment on people's faces as they enjoy their food.
Kaden explained what skills it takes to work concession and why it takes those certain skills. He started with "communication skills because you have to take orders, humor because people joke with you, and sanitation skills because you don't want people's food to be nasty."
One of Kaden's favorite memories of working in concessions is "Mr. T, every single time, always dropping something."
Between the school and football fields, Kaden prefers to work at the school “because they have air conditioning. In the summer, the field is hot, but in winter it's freezing."
If he could choose any item to put on the menu, it would be "DEFINITELY CHILI, because it's good on any day.”
Mrs. Cox said her favorite moment with Kaden was "sometimes in concession stands things go wrong, but with Kaden we just roll with it and laugh it off instead of getting frustrated. And also sometimes Kaden's story.”
Describing Kaden in three words, Mrs.Cox said, "dependable, respectful, and hardworking."
