Review of Ottumwa’s Mayhem Haunted House
by Lotty Nolte
Last weekend some of my friends and I decided to try out the Mayhem Haunted House. We drove for about an hour, and went inside to a big shed to get checked in. We got put on a waiting list. For about an hour and fifteen minutes we sat around and talked, played bags, and ate from the food trucks. Then our text finally came that they were ready for us to go inside the haunted house.
The people who set up the whole thing were very creative. The haunted house has many different themed rooms, and the set ups did not disappoint. The scarers were also amazing. They were very nice and funny, but also knew how to get a jump out of us.
“It was really scary, and you could go there every year and it wouldn’t be the same,” Kesley Reed stated.
Mayhem Haunted House, located in Ottumwa, has been in business since 2011. This haunted attraction takes place in an old abandoned psychiatric hospital. The organization has renovated the hospital, putting in many themed rooms, lights, and much more. They have been voted best haunted house for 5 years in a row, and they definitely deserve it.
It’s open for two more weekends, so go and get scared.
