The definition of a hobby is an activity done regularly in one’s leisure time for pleasure. Hobbies play a very important role in our lives. Hobbies relax our minds and make us happy. They bring us away from stress.

Even our teachers have hobbies.

Ms. Sanderson said her hobby is traveling and binge watching Netflix. Traveling is the hobby she’s most excited about. She loves finding new locations and embracing new experiences. When asked about how much time she spends on her hobby every week she said If it's traveling, she spends a lot of money... Thousands of dollars a year. She doesn't necessarily spend money on it weekly. The most rewarding aspect of her hobby is she gets to meet new people, try new things, and ultimately make new memories with loved ones.

Crocheting is a popular hobby that many people do including our guidance counselor, Mrs.   Cooper. Mrs. Cooper discovered crocheting through her grandmother when she was little. Mrs. Cooper typically spends around 6 hours a week crocheting. Mrs. Cooper thinks that the most rewarding aspect of crocheting is that she has gifted handmade baby afghans to all her nieces and nephews.

One way that our secretary Sadie Kennedy relaxes after a long stressful week of school is gardening. Depending on the time of year Sadie spends 20 or so hours, but during the winter she doesn’t spend any time. During 2020 she got into house plants and that grew into the plants outside her house. Sadie also enjoys reading.

Ms. Sammy also enjoys reading, as well as hiking, traveling, lifting, and thrifting. Ms. Sammy’s most interesting hobby that she puts a lot of time into is lifting. Ms. Sammy says she spends ”maybe 5 hours” on her hobby. She says that the most rewarding aspect of her hobby is stress relief.

Many people love to sing, such as Dr. Kingrey. Dr. Kingrey discovered his hobby for singing through his family. He says, “Family started me out from the time I was born (listening to them sing) and then joining in when I was able to.” He typically spends 8-10 hours singing. Dr. Kingrey thinks that the most rewarding aspect of singing is that it is calm, brings him pleasure, makes others happy, and centers himself if he’s had a bad day.

Ms. Benedict’s hobbies are reading, kayaking, puzzles, hiking, and sleeping. Her most interesting hobby, or the one that she spends a lot of time doing, is catching bats with her dad, or helping him burn the prairie. She typically spends 4 hours on her hobby. Ms. Benedict discovered her hobbies either by herself or through her family. She says that the most rewarding aspect of engaging in her hobby is “spending time with family, being outdoors, and broadening my imagination”.
